Guests often stay at hotels for a number of days so having the right music playing is hugely important. Many hotels attract a varied demographic, so how do you play music and create an ambience that appeals to everybody? Music has become an increasingly important part of a hotel’s business strategy, with traditional global hotel chains using music to create an immediate impression, stay interesting and to attract a younger demographic.
Within the hotel, there are the different zones to consider; the lobby, lounge bars and restaurants, poolside, gym, spa and meeting and conference rooms. The music should flow, and make sense, within each area and when moving around the hotel. Different times of the day require different tempos and volume, early breakfast to afternoon tea, aperitif hour too late night cocktails – the music playing within these separate zones need to complement each other, whilst enhancing the specific area’s environment.
